Here’s a breakdown of the 5-step process for Australian immigration:
 

Step 1: Preliminary Data Gathering and Self-Assessment

First, we confirm your occupation is on the MLTSSL or STSOL list and that you possess the required years of work experience. Then, we identify the relevant assessing authority for your occupation and begin the documentation process.

Step 2: Lodge Skills Assessment Application

Your next step involves lodging your skills assessment with the designated body responsible for your profession. All applicants undergo a skills assessment from the relevant authority for skill verification. Various skill assessment bodies exist, each with different verification requirements. In most cases, the assessment relies on your qualifications and work experience, though some may require English language ability and formal examinations.

Step 3: Prepare Your Application – IELTS, State Sponsorship, EOI

If you haven't taken the IELTS exam, you must do so, aiming for at least 6 in each band. To claim additional points for English language skills, you'll need at least 7 in each band. If you lack sufficient points, you might consider seeking State Sponsorship. Once you have your skill assessment report, IELTS Scorecard, and State Sponsorship (if needed), you can submit your 'Expression of Interest' (EOI). At this stage, you'll also need other supporting documents like job certificates (if required), academic records, and marriage certificates. Ensure all data provided in the EOI is accurate, as the immigration authority will issue an invitation to apply based on this information.

Step 4: Immigration Visa Application

You may receive an 'Invitation to Apply' if your EOI points are sufficient. By this point, you should have most of the necessary details for the final application. However, you might need to obtain current documents, such as recent bank statements or updated job certificates.

Step 5: Submit Supporting Papers – Medical Examination, Police Clearance

This final step in the visa application process is usually a very positive sign. After the Department of Home Affairs (DIBP) assesses and processes your application, they will request police clearance and medical checks for you and your family. Police checks are typically provided by the police or security services in your country. Medical checks must be conducted by a Panel Doctor, who are registered with DIBP and located in numerous cities worldwide.
